Here at Arealgoodhydeing we like to think we have our fingers placed firmly on the pulse and aim to bring our readers the latest news from the cutting edge. With this in mind we headed over to Berlin to catch up with our favourite fashionista/musical maverick/tech-a-naut, Big Will D.
"This was just a shoot I said i'd do to help my friend with a University project. The plant behind is also mine."
"This is right by the recording studio where me and David (Bowie) worked to create his Berlin Trilogy in the late 70's. In fact it was after we created the loop for Breaking Glass that I first discovered this skatepark."
"30 years on and I still struggle with tabletops! These chinos were given to me as a present by my friend and Tokyo-based designer, Marihoto Fuyashama . They were a thank you gift for a project we worked together on using only denim and pure new wool to create music."
"Park downtime. Sometimes after all day creating soundscapes it can be good to get out in the fresh air and the parks in Berlin are just wonderful for doing that."
"The shape and form of this skatepark remind me of those on my E-mu Pro-cussion sampler."
"The art of Berlin outside of the galleries is just as good as that inside. And its free!"
"Touring the world can leave people yearning for home comforts but not me. In Berlin you can travel the culinary world without even leaving the city."
"My music is linked closely with technology. So much so that I feel I have to be seen at the forefront in most other aspects of life. My car for example, can only be used once immobilised as when on Standby it converts to a hologram in order to save space in this already overcrowded city."
Hi Will,
ReplyDeleteRE: your last message, YES! Me and Tina will be attending the Audio and Architecture Symposium this fall. Will be a great to see (and hear) you. Made some recent developments in sound that I feel could (just possibly) fit that ambient collage you were constructing. Anyway, let's not ramble on,
Yours progressively,
David
